Go to https://ad-optimizer.metoda.com/

For the onboarding of SPs, click "Campaigns". This leads you to the campaigns section.

You can either:

  • Case 1: add SP campaigns for new products manually by clicking “New campaign” or

  • Case 2: import several new ASINs at once using “Import” and our onboarding template (the Excel-template can be downloaded by clicking "Import", "Download example Excel")

In both cases, you need to fill in all mandatory information explained in the table below:

InformationMandatory/ OptionalDescription
PortfolioMandatoryThe Portfolio your products should be advertised in
ASINMandatoryASIN you want to generate campaign for
SKUMandatory (seller), not necessary (vendor)
Seller only. You can input multiple SKUs by separating them with a semicolon (";")
Goal (Target ACoS)Mandatory
Target ACoS you want to achieve with your campaigns; only full percentage values are possible
Targeting Type**Mandatory
Either "Amazon auto" or "keyword" or both. If you want to create campaigns for both targeting types, use two lines in the template.
StartMandatory
Start date of the campaigns
End
OptionalLeave blank for unlimited campaign duration; fill in for setting an end date of the campaign
CategoryOptionalYou can set one category tag (useful for filtering in our report solution e.g "Tableware" or "hairdryer")
TagsOptionalYou can set multiple product tags (useful for filtering in our report solution e.g. "New product launch" , "Special offers January")
Negative keywords*OptionalUse for blacklisting in order to make sure that your ad will not be displayed for irrelevant search terms. Limited to 1000 keywords/campaign, and each one of them may not exceed 4 words. They need to be separated by a semicolon (";")
Positive keywords*OptionalAdditional possibility to upload important keywords manually (white listing). Limited to 1000 keywords/campaign, and each one of them may not exceed 4 words. They need to be separated by a semicolon (";")

* According to our best practice, the keywords will be integrated with phrase as match type. The ads can be shown according to the phrase and close variations of it. This allows us to reach a lot of customers, while still keeping the targeting of shoppers precise. Same is true for negative keywords --> the campaign will not be displayed on all search terms that include the given negative keyword.

** There are two Targeting Types for Sponsored Products:

  • Amazon auto: Amazon automatically displays ads to the relevant audience (both in search results as well as on product detail pages).
  • keyword: we include suitable keywords from our database and optimize them automatically. Additionally, well-working keywords from the auto campaigns will be added continuously.

Case 1: Generation of new campaigns using "New campaign"

There are 3 major steps you need to complete one by one to set up your campaign. Once you filled in all mandatory fields you will be directed to the Launchpad where you can make some last adjustments before creating the campaing(s).

Step 1: Campaign

  • Select Sponsored Products

  •  Define the start date (end date optionally) and select the right portfolio (use the dropdown to chose existing portfolios or create a new portfolio via "+ New portfolio")

  •  Choose the targeting type which must be either "keyword", "Amazon auto" or "keyword + Amazon auto" and proceed with the onboarding process after confirming the settings with "next"

Step 2: Product

Enter the ASINs (+SKUs for sellers) for which you want to create campaigns.

Step 3: Launchpad
You will be directed to the Launchpad where you can make some last adjustments before creating the campaigns.
Please note that the Goal will be set to Target ACoS: 15% by default, but can be adjusted to any full percentage value
You can either implement some changes in-line or as a bulk operation. Explanations of the different fields can be found in the table at the top of this article.

Bulk operations: choose multiple rows by activating the corresponding check boxes on the left and use the dropdown to select the action you want to implement.

Once you have finished all your settings, click on "Create campaign(s)" in order to save your campaigns. The Ad Optimizer will immediately start creating the campaigns (including keyword research, bidding, etc.) and will set them live within max. 60 minutes after setup or according to the given start date.

IMPORTANT NOTE: you need to deactivate all your own campaigns that show the ASINs which should be managed by metoda (otherwise campaigns will bid against each other, newer campaigns have a disadvantage compared to existing campaigns because they have not generated any clicks or revenues yet)

IMPORTANT NOTE: setting a budget period is the necessary requirement for your campaigns to be displayed. Only if a budget period for the selected portfolio exists, will your campaigns be running - otherwise, they are supposed to spend 0 EUR/GBP/USD.

Attention: Amazon limits the number of campaigns per entity to 10,000 campaigns → workaround for vendors: generate separate entities under your organization.

Case 2: Generation of new campaigns using "Import" leads you to the following screen:

Step 1: Download the example Excel and fill in all mandatory information.

The example Excel looks as follows including instructions on how to fill it out and two examples

Step 2: Fill in the Excel file.

Best Practice: we recommend implementing both an "Amazon auto" and a "keyword" campaign per ASIN. Two rows must be created for each ASIN. Tipp: Finish your input for "keyword" campaigns first, copy the entire block of campaigns, paste it below the keyword campaigns and adjust only the column "SPA Type" (from "keyword" to "Amazon auto").

Step 3: Save the Excel and drag it into the "Import campaigns" screen.

In case something is not filled in properly, you will receive error messages indicating in which row adjustments are necessary. Common mistakes: e.g. not all mandatory fields were filled, start date in the past, wrong formatting of the cells. Please read the instructions in the template carefully and follow the guidelines. Do not add or delete any columns or change the order of the columns!

Step 4: Click "Import" to upload your Excel.

Step 5: You will be directed to the Launchpad where you can make some last adjustments before creating the campaigns. You can either implement some changes in-line or as a bulk operation:
